Privacy Policy

Version 2026-09-06 · Effective September 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Bitcoin Pivot learning platform collects when you create an account, take courses, and earn credentials, and how that information is used, shared, retained, and deleted.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information: name, email address, optional display name, job title, and profile image.
  • Organization information: the organization you join or are invited to, your role in it, and any cohort you are assigned to.
  • Learning activity: courses started and completed, lesson progress, time spent, notes and bookmarks you create, quiz answers, scores, and attempt history.
  • Credential records: certificates issued to you, their verification codes, issue and expiration dates, and renewal history.
  • Assessment integrity data for capstone examinations only: consent record, webcam snapshots, and event logs such as leaving fullscreen or switching tabs.
  • Payment records: purchases, amounts, currency, and payment status. Card numbers are handled by our payment processor and are never stored on our systems.
  • Assistant conversations: questions you ask the study assistant and the responses returned.
  • Technical data required to run the service securely, including sign-in timestamps and rate-limiting counters, and the strictly necessary cookies described in our Cookie Policy. Optional analytics cookies are only used if you accept them.

2. How we use information

  • To provide the courses, assessments, certificates, and credential verification you signed up for.
  • To show your progress to your organization's administrators when you hold an organization seat.
  • To issue, verify, expire, and renew credentials, and to send related notifications.
  • To protect examination integrity for capstone examinations.
  • To process payments, discounts, access codes, and refunds.
  • To secure the platform against abuse, including throttling repeated sign-in attempts.
  • To improve course content in aggregate. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your data for advertising.

3. Who can see your information

  • You can always see your own account, progress, notes, and credentials.
  • Organization administrators can see the learning progress, completions, and certificates of learners in their organization, but not your private notes or assistant conversations.
  • Platform administrators can see account and integrity records where necessary to operate the service.
  • Anyone with a certificate verification code can see the certificate's recipient name, course title, issue date, validity, and expiration. Nothing else is exposed publicly.
  • Service providers process data on our behalf: hosting and database infrastructure, payment processing, email delivery, and the model provider that powers study assistance. They may only use the data to deliver those services.

4. Legal bases and your choices

Where required by law, we process your data to perform the agreement between us, to comply with legal obligations, and on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure platform. Examination integrity monitoring is only performed with your explicit consent at the start of a capstone examination; if you decline, you may still take non-proctored courses.

5. Your rights

  • Access and portability: download a complete JSON export of your data from Privacy settings.
  • Correction: update your profile details at any time.
  • Deletion: permanently delete your account from Privacy settings. Learning history, notes, assistant conversations, and integrity records are purged. Issued certificates are revoked and reduced to an anonymized verification stub so that previously shared verification links do not silently break. Payment records are retained where required by tax and accounting law.
  • Objection and complaint: contact us, or your local data protection authority, if you believe your data has been handled improperly.

6. Data retention

Account and learning records are kept while your account is active. Examination integrity snapshots are retained only as long as needed to complete integrity review, then removed. Financial records are retained for the period required by applicable law. Deleting your account removes the rest as described above.

7. Security

Data is stored in an access-controlled database with row-level security so that each learner's records are only reachable by that learner and the administrators entitled to see them. Lesson audio and examination media are stored in private buckets served only through short-lived signed links. Multi-factor authentication is available to every learner and can be required by an organization. Sign-in, sign-up, and password reset attempts are rate limited, and administrative actions are written to an immutable audit log.

8. International transfers and children

Our infrastructure may process data outside your country of residence, with contractual safeguards in place. The platform is intended for professional and adult learners and is not directed to children under 16.

9. Changes and contact

We will update the version and effective date at the top of this page when this policy changes materially, and ask you to re-accept it the next time you sign in. To reach us, submit a request on our support page at /support (or from "Help & requests" in your dashboard once signed in); you can also write to privacy@thebitcoinpivot.com. Support requests are stored with your name, email, message, and the page you were on, are visible only to you and our platform administrators, and are retained while your account is active and for up to 24 months after a request is closed.
